Shawn Xavien (last name Hines) was born May 13, 1980, in Maricopa County, Arizona and was raised in Stuart Gardens Apartments located in the east end section of Newport News, Virginia better known as "Bad Newz." Shawn graduated from Menchville High School, going on to serve in the United States Army until 2004. A classically trained bassist and self taught pianist, Shawn earned himself a name by crafting top notch beats for his previous ARMY brethren and local VA artist alike, eventually releasing his debut self produced Ep Heart and Soul under his Senih Circle Music imprint in May of 2006. Further establishing himself as a top notch producer, Shawn contributed to 2007's Red Qwiet aka Reqwiem presents Flames From Tha World Mixtape alongside producers from across the globe. In 2008, Shawn released the compilation album Split Decision along side good friend and fellow MC Da Storeytella, garnering radio play during 103Jamz Sunday Night Spot Light with the hit single "Get Up and Go," introducing the 757 to two of its most talented unknown artist. Since the albums release, demand has been high for the low key producer and artist, resulting in a long list of individuals eager to work with the man they've dubbed simply as X. Realizing the impact of his work, Shawn expanded his renowned circle by adding Chi-Town spoken word artist Chrys and Baltimore native MaC to the mix along side current artist Da Storeytella and long time affiliate Folk, giving Senih Circle Music another dimension and listeners more good music. The unexpected death of his father, Earnest Davis Jr., on December 28, 2008 devastated Shawn, leaving a void that had been the motivation for his music all his life. After an extended absence from recording, Shawn put out his second solo album, Enigma, in 2010. The recording was released exclusively through Last.fm for free and featured several hits, including "Pause for the Flash" featuring O. Abbott and "Other Side of the Pillow," as well as "After Tomorrow" which was dedicated to his father. That same year, Shawn made a name for himself for his work with other artist. His production on Poetikk Justice "Poetry," was selected as the theme song for the National Poetry Awards and his work on the Women Who Wear Blue Genes Soundtrack receieved rave reviews. The year also included performances at The Beautiful Kids Fashion Show and Fashion for A Cause. On December 28, Shawn released his newest single "Walking On the Moon" featuring Benjamin Bills and Munee, in honor of his late father. Currently Shawn is working on the release of his third solo ep titled A Boy and His Beard, coming off the success of 2011's Gorgeous Mine: the mixtape. While numbers have never been the focus for which he makes music, Shawn has earned the respect of his peers through his creative approach and dedication. As he always says "Music is what it is. Make it your own."
